Shigeru Ban is well known for his innovative use of materials as well as his compassionate approaches to designing. Established Shigeru Ban Architects in 1985. Founded a disaster relief organization, Voluntary Architects’ Network (VAN), in 1995.

In this lecture, Ban’s architectural works worldwide over the past 30 years will be covered. His career paralleled to disaster relief activities, shares the idea of an architect’s role in society.
